WARING AND GILCHRIST CLAIM EVENT #2 OF
AMERICAN PRO SURFING SERIES PRESENTED BY CHIQUITA

Torrey Meister and Erica Hosseini Lead APSS Rankings Leading into
Third and Final Event

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Oct. 4, 2012 – Event #2 of the American Pro Surfing Series (APSS) hit the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier last weekend. After two days of competition in solid three to six foot swell, Chris Waring (Huntington Beach) and Kaleigh Gilchrist (Newport Beach) emerged victorious. With two events down and one to go, Torrey Meister and Erica Hosseini lead the APSS rankings for the three-event series which will conclude the first week of November.

Created by industry veteran Scott Waring, the three-event series offers an opportunity for domestic surfers to earn prize money and bragging rights while competing stateside. A bevy of the country’s most esteemed surfers, both legends and young up-and-comers, have competed in the first two events.

Joining Waring and Gilchrist on the podium at event #2 were Torrey Meister (San Diego) in second, Christian Saenz (Huntington Beach) in third and Ian Crane (San Clemente) in fourth, in the men’s division and Demi Boelsterli (Santa Barbara) in second, Lisa Andersen (Huntington Beach) in third and Kulia Doherty (Rancho Santa Fe) in fourth, in the women’s division.

With Waring and Gilchrist’s wins this weekend, the battle will be set for the third and final event which will ultimately decide the overall series winners. Current APSS standings are:

The final event will run for two days during a holding period of October 31 through November 7.
