"Take SUP magazine out of it," says Editor Joe Carberry. "We want the SUP Awards to stand on their own as standup paddling’s highest honor. This is an amazing sport and we need to recognize the people making it great."
Aside from recognizing great athletes, the SUP Awards also highlights achievements in other important areas of the industry. Vote for the "Top Expedition," "Top Philanthropic Effort" and "Movie of the Year".
Winners-along with the recipient of the SUP Awards’ Lifetime Achievement honor-will be announced during the SUP Awards show on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at the historic Catalina Casino. In attendance will be the industry’s most recognized athletes, top SUP industry executives, national media, and guest celebrities.
Then, from Oct. 1-2, 2011, the world’s finest standup paddlers will converge at the Descanso Beach Club on Catalina Island for two days of races, demos, SUP films and live music. Crystal-clear waters, the best spectator course imaginable and a world-class vacation experience will make this the world’s premiere SUP festival.
