San Clemente, CA (April 5, 2012) – Each year, SURFER compiles the definitive ranking of the best young surfers on the planet for our May Issue. This year we took it one step further, bringing you a full-length Hot 100 film to accompany the list. Featuring the best young surfers in locations all over the globe, the 2012 SURFER Hot 100 Movie is a compilation of the very best footage from surfing’s future stars.
“We’ve spent a lot of time over the past two years re-imagining SURFER, making it a brand that delivers the most authentic surf content in ways that our fans really connect with,” says SURFER Editor Brendon Thomas. “As part of that rebuilding, this year we completely overhauled The Hot 100 issue from a linear list of names to a diverse magazine geared towards young surfers. The movie is a natural extension of that.”
The Hot 100 movie is a 38-minute high-action movie that features all the best young surfers, including John John Florence, Gabriel Medina, Jack Robinson, Carissa Moore, Kolohe Andino and dozens more.
“The Hot 100 movie was a brand new idea for SURFER and a project I was excited and honored to work on,” says SURFER Assistant Photo Editor Bryce Lowe-White, who directed and produced the movie. “After wrangling footage from every corner of the globe, we stitched together a movie that showcases surfing’s progressive future.”
The Hot 100 issue, featuring the full list of the 100 best surfers on the planet is on newsstands now. Pick up your issue today and download the movie for free at Surfermag.com. Click here to watch on YouTube.
