SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., ( April 30, 2012)—In an ideal world, surfing fans could all come to historic Lower Trestles at San Onofre State Park in San Clemente to watch the 2012 Nike Lowers Pro, but a live webcast will give everyone, anywhere a front row seat to all of the action and tons of insider information. Additionally, Time Warner Cable will broadcast the event live in its entirety for all five days of competition throughout LA, San Diego, Desert Cities and Hawaii. Finally, major storylines and unseen footage will air on NBC, June 16th as part of the Red Bull Signature Series.
The Nike Lowers Pro will feature an HD-quality online broadcast at NikeLowersPro.com with live video coverage, scoring and a heat-by-heat analyzer for all five days of competition. The webcast will be mobile-friendly so fans can watch the coverage on their wireless device. The incorporation of athlete and viewer Tweets and Instagram photos during the broadcast will give an insider’s view of the event, and a “#JudgeIt” game will also give users the opportunity to guess the winner and the winning score of heats via Twitter to win gear and other prizes.
Time Warner Cable will begin its full live television coverage of five select 2012 ASP-sanctioned US events with the Nike Lowers Pro. The live broadcast will be available to over 2.5 million subscriber homes in Hawaii (Ch. 250 & 1250 HD), Los Angeles (Ch. 101), San Diego (Ch. 411), and the Desert Cities areas (Ch. 111), and is part of Time Warner Cable’s ongoing carriage of top flight domestic and international professional surfing events.
On June 16th, highlights and unseen footage of the 2012 Nike Lowers Pro will air on NBC as part of the “Red Bull Signature Series”. The Red Bull Signature Series features the most progressive and innovative surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, freestyle motocross, ice cross downhill, skiing, and BMX events, showcased on custom courses from the inspiration of the athletes themselves. The Nike Lowers Pro returns to San Clemente, Calif., for the fifth consecutive year, May 1-5.
