DIRT SPORTS GROUP PUBLISHER JIM RYAN WINS TWO PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS

Veteran Publisher Honored With Judy Smith SCORE Journalist of the Year and Robert E. Petersen Media Award

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Jan. 28, 2013 – GrindMedia’s Dirt Sports Group Publisher Jim Ryan is the latest recipient of two major awards. The veteran publisher recently received the Judy Smith SCORE Journalist of the Year Award following the banquet for SCORE International, the off-road sanctioning body for the legendary Baja races. Ryan also received the prestigious Motorsports Parts Manufacturers Council (MPMC) Robert E. Petersen Media Award, which was presented at the MPMC Media Trade Conference this month. The award is given to an individual from the media industry who has made a recognizable positive impact on the motorsports industry and the MPMC during the past year.

“It is a great honor to be recognized for both of these prestigious awards,” said Ryan. “I also credit the amazing efforts of the talented staff I’ve had the privilege of working with. I have been fortunate enough to spend years living my passion through the off-road motorsports industry, alongside the many great racers, teams, sponsors, distributors, manufacturers, writers and photographers. I cannot thank the industry enough for this humbling recognition.”

These honors are a first for Ryan, whose long publishing career has been dedicated to supporting and bringing more awareness and recognition to the sport of off-road racing, most notably creating and founding Dirt Sports and Off-Road Industry magazines in 2004. Since their inception, Ryan has grown the magazines’ readership through engaging content, in-depth articles, and the creation of a forum that allows writers and photographers to showcase their feature pieces and outstanding photography.

Recently, Ryan’s Dirt Sports and Off-Road Industry magazines and related assets were acquired by GrindMedia, the leading action sports / adventure media division of parent company, Source Interlink Media.
