2013 POWDER AWARDS TO BENEFIT HIGH FIVES FOUNDATION 13th Annual Red Carpet and Awards Show Will be Held at Park City Live on SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (Dec. 13, 2012) – POWDER Magazine is pleased to announce the High Fives Foundation as the official non-profit partner of the 2013 Powder Awards, presented by Icelandic Glacial, for the third consecutive year.
“Each season, the Powder Awards committee selects a non-profit partner with a simple goal of helping to raise awareness, as well as donations,” said POWDER Publisher Ashley Otte. “Roy, Adam, Steve, and the entire High Fives family are making a difference in our community by helping skiers continue to follow their dreams after suffering serious injuries. I’m pleased to continue our partnership with High Fives and look forward to helping increase donations this season to enable the continued success for years to come.” Based in Truckee, California, High Fives was co-founded by Roy Tuscany to raise money and awareness for athletes that have suffered a life-altering injury while pursuing their dream in a winter action sports endeavor. The organization became an official 501c.3 non-profit in 2009 and as of December 2012, they have issued over $400,000 in grants, assisting 34 athletes. Currently, the foundation is undergoing a major expansion renovation of the C.R. Johnson Healing Center in an effort to continue to offer a place that promotes rehabilitation, strengthening, and positivity. “The continued support of High Fives from POWDER is unbelievable,” said Tuscany, president of High Fives. “To have the endorsement of The Skier’s Magazine legitimizes our efforts.” For more information on the foundation and the healing center, click-in to HighFivesFoundation.org and CRJohnson.org. The 13th annual celebration presented by Icelandic Glacial is debuting for the first time in Park City, Utah, on Jan 17th.
