EnduroCross on NBC Sports Network This Weekend
Entire 2011 series to run on consecutive weeks beginning on February 12th

Irvine, CA (Feb. 8, 2012) – All six rounds of the 2011 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, presented by Lucas Oil will air on the NBC Sports Network on consecutive weekends beginning this Sunday, February 12th. Check your local listings for the Lucas Motorsports Hour on the new NBC Sports Network (Formerly Versus). Cameron Steele, David Bailey and Terry Boyd do a great job showcasing the talent of some of the best off road motorcycle racers in the world and EnduroCross provides plenty of action.

With the 2012 Series kicking off on Friday, May 4th in Las Vegas, this will provide a great recap of the 2011 series and get you up to speed on who to watch during the new season.

Entries Open for 2012 GEICO MiniMotoSX
The largest Mini Bike race in the world celebrates 9th year

Irvine, CA. (February 3, 2012) – The ninth annual GEICO MiniMotoSX, Fueled by Monster Energy will take place during the Monster Energy Supercross finals weekend in Las Vegas. On Sunday May 6th, you can put your own gear on and hit the track inside the Orleans Arena. This is the largest Mini Bike race in the world and you can expect 300 plus riders to compete for AMA number 1 plates and the largest purse in Mini Bike racing. In fact, CHP’s Willie Browning dominated the Expert classes in 2011 and pocketed $9,000.

There are eight adult classes and three youth classes as well as a Women’s class. For the third year, the MiniMotoSX will conclude with the World Final race that pits the top three finishers from the Expert & Youth classes plus the Women’s champion to take on the International Champions for bragging rights and cash. This event is a great time for racers and spectators and for most; this is the closest you can ever get to racing a Supercross. Entries are open now and you can make it a complete Supercross weekend in Vegas.

All.I.Can., Pettit, Backstrom, and Wallisch Earn Top Honors for 2012

ASPEN, Colo. (Jan. 25, 2012) - Sherpas Cinema’s All.I.Can., Sean Pettit, Ingrid Backstrom, and Tom Wallisch were awarded top honors tonight at the 12th annual POWDER Awards presented by Casio G z’One Commando and Verizon Wireless. The historic Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo. played host to the biggest night in skiing, where POWDER Magazine honored the Top 10 Men and Top 5 Women, as voted on by fans, as well as "Movie of the Year," "Best Documentary," "Best Jib," and several other categories for top film performances in 2012.

In the Men’s Reader Poll, Tom Wallisch, originally from Pittsburgh, Pa. and now a Salt Lake City, Utah, local, claimed his second consecutive Reader Poll No. 1 this year. Following Wallisch was Sean Pettit (Whistler, B.C., CAN), Sage Cattabriga-Alosa (Salt Lake City, Utah), Seth Morrison (Frisco, Colo.), Bobby Brown (Breckenridge, Colo.), Kye Petersen (Whistler, B.C., CAN), Erik Roner (Lake Tahoe, Calif.), Tanner Hall (Park City, Utah), Eric Hjorleifson (Canmore, Alberta, CAN) and Henrik Harlaut (SWE).

“It’s awesome to win the award again,” said Wallisch stage right. “It’s something I definitely try to pride myself on-to be as friendly and fun as I can. The fact that the readers like what I’m doing, means a ton.”

On the women’s side of the Reader Poll, Ingrid Backstrom of Olympic Village, Calif., took the top slot. Backstrom also took home “Best Female Performance” for her part in Attack of La Niña (MSP Films). Rounding out the rest of the top five women was the late Sarah Burke, Kaya Turski (Montreal, Quebec, CAN), Grete Eliassen (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Rachael Burks (Salt Lake City, Utah).

“I didn’t do so well for a couple years. But Matchstick still believed in me and we made it work,” said Backstrom outside the Hotel Jerome ballroom. “The fact I was nominated with women I look up to, the state of women’s skiing…I can’t believe I’m involved in it. It takes a whole year of patience and waiting for the safe conditions. You either get lucky or you don’t. It’s about the journey.”

For the Video Awards portion of the evening, All.I.Can. from Sherpas Cinema cleaned house, taking home several awards including the coveted “Movie of the Year,” in a notably contentious category that also included Attack of La Niña (MSP Films), One for the Road (Teton Gravity Research), After Dark (Level 1 Productions) and Weight (Stept Productions). All.I.Can. also earned honors for “Best Editing” and “Best POV,” not to mention, “Best Natural Air” and “Full Throttle” for Kye Petersen’s part in the film.

“We won at X Dance and the Banff Film Festival, but to have an award given to us by our tribe in the action sports industry means the most by far,” said Sherpas Cinema co-director Eric Crosland. “It’s something you dream of as a filmmaker. The film was really complex and it weighed on us the whole time how we were gonna convey it. But the whole thing had a lot of serendipitous moments.”

After a groundbreaking year that included travels to places as diverse as Hokkaido, Japan, and Cooke City, Montana, Parker White (Mount Snow, Vt.) was granted the North Face Breakthrough Performer for his role in Level 1 Productions’ After Dark.

“I definitely didn’t expect this, but I’m so stoked and grateful for the award,” said White.

The POWDER Awards brought together the best skiers, the most talented filmmakers and the legends of the sport for a night of celebration and tribute.

“We worked really hard on this show, and it’s great to unite the ski family at an event like this,” said POWDER Editor Derek Taylor.

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (January 17, 2012) - With just a week to go before the 12th annual POWDER Awards presented by Casio G’zOne Commando and Verizon Wireless, POWDER Magazine is pleased to announce nominees for the 2012 competition. The prestigious event will take place at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado, with a live webcast at powderawards.com on Jan. 25, 2012. A judging panel comprised of POWDER staff and experts in the world of skiing poured over countless entries to narrow down the nominees and will ultimately vote on the winners.

“Choosing the nominees gets harder and harder every year as more talented filmmakers enter the fray, and the veterans continue to reach new heights,” says POWDER Editor Derek Taylor. “Our panel of 26 industry experts really had their work cut out for them this year.”

Initial feedback from the judging panel suggests that the “Movie of the Year” category was particularly tough to judge this year. Fantasy Surfer Grand Prize Winner Announced

Paul Segawa Wins Trip to El Salvador

San Clemente, CA (January 6, 2011) – Strategy paid off for Oahu’s Paul Segawa who took home top honors during the 2011 Fantasy Surfer season, and earned himself the grand prize trip for two to the AST Surf Hotel in El Salvador courtesy of Adventure Sports Tours.

“To be honest, my strategy was not to do too bad and be the brunt of any jokes in our clubhouse,” says Segawa. “There’s a lot of trash-talking in the clubhouse and I was just trying to avoid getting too much of that.”

We’ll be the first to admit that we were a little shocked to hear that Paul has only been playing Fantasy Surfer for two seasons. But apparently, the Oahu-based graphic designer has an edge to his game, having beat out thousands of avid players to take home the grand prize. Now, he and a friend will jet off to the pointbreaks of La Libertad, El Salvador, where they will soak in a week of perfect rights.

“I’m still having trouble believing that it’s real,” says Segawa. “I’m pretty psyched for sure. I can’t wait to get down there and surf a pointbreak. I’m thinking about bringing our clubhouse commissioner. He’s the one that talked me into getting into Fantasy Surfer, so it’d definitely be cool to do that for him.”

Fantasy Surfer, the original fantasy game of the ASP World Tour, allows players to assemble their team of surfers and go head-to-head against friends and fellow players for a chance to win prizes at each event, and a massive overall prize at season’s end. The 2012 season kicks off at the first World Tour event at Snapper in late February so be sure to log on to FantasySurfer.com and pick your team before the first heat hits the water.
